Steamboat Rock and Northrup Canyon Hikes

Description:
We're headin' West for two hikes: Steamboat Rock and Northrup Canyon trails. Both trails are 100 miles west of Spokane and will be led by Mariann (farmgal) and Kathy. Steamboat Rock trail is an easy (although very vertical) 5 mile hike with one short, steep section. Information from the Washington State Parks website: http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Steamboat%20Rock Nearby is the second hike, the Northrup Canyon trail. It is an easy 6 mile hike Information: http://www.trailsnw.com/index.php?fuseaction=Trails.DisplayTrail&hike_num=117 Please bring your own water and lunch and, if you like, a fun snack to share. Sunscreen and sunglasses might be needed. Hoping for a lot of sunshine on these trails. Timeline: Carpool leaves PEMCO parking lot at 8am. Each rider contributes fuel $ to drivers. The PEMCO parking lot is at the corner of Fourth Ave. and Maple, next to the freeway, Maple Street exit. Timeline (approximate): 8am - carpool leaves Spokane 9:45am - arrive Steamboat Rock State Park 10am - 1pm - hike Streamboat Rock trail, eat lunch, explore area 1:30-4:30pm - drive ten miles from Steamboat Rock to Northrup Canyon and hike 6 miles. 6:15pm - carpool arrives back in Spokane.
